You can go back to Penelec's standard price later. Check your contract for a fee to leave early.
Call the company you pick, or sign up on its website. You don't call your utility.
Have your Penelec bill ready. The company will ask for a number from it.
Look for your customer number on your bill. It is a long number. Give the company every digit.
The new company tells Penelec for you.
You have 3 business days to cancel for free after you get the new company's plan papers.
Weekends and holidays don't count.
To cancel, call the new company, write to them or cancel online.
The company must send you a first notice 45 to 60 days before your plan ends.
A second notice must come by mail at least 30 days before it ends.
